The road to Raglan, a surfer town.

Raglan is a small quiet little surfer town on the west coast of New Zealand. It was definitely the type of place where I would want to stay for a few weeks. I stayed in this surf camp lodge located on a mountain by the ocean, in the middle of a jungle and a view of the glow worms that New Zealand is known for. The surf is pretty good here but if it’s ever flat you can drive 35 min further south to where it’s always about 2-3ft if flat in Raglan. I also recommend you see the Bridal Veil Falls. It’s not too far from there and totally worth the 10 minute hike with different levels of views. Raglan made me feel so relaxed. When your seeing these things and traveling through such a beautiful country, life feels surreal.

And the journey continues..Piha, New Zealand

When your traveling alone for a while and haven’t seen close friends or family in a while, you could have your down days every once in a while. There is also days where you say to yourself: “I wish I could have my family/friends here to see this too.” But its these “up” moments that make you want to keep going and see more. The key is to stay busy. I went to Piha on a pretty lonely day and boy did it blow me away. I went to Piha from Auckland, New Zealand and its about a 45 minute drive west of Auckland. I totally recommend it and would say its worth the drive. Well Piha was one of the spots where you look out and think to yourself: “Wow, I cant believe I’m here.” I know I haven’t seen much of New Zealand yet but I’ve read and seen pictures of nothing but amazing landscapes and scenery. I’m super excited to go explore more. As I make my way down around the north Island and the South Island, I will be posting more must see spots in New Zealand.

Cape Reinga

Cape Reinga, located at the northern end of the North Island of New Zealand. The name of the cape comes from the M?ori word ‘Reinga’, meaning the ‘Underworld’. Cape Reinga is generally considered the separation marker between the Tasman Sea to the west and the Pacific Ocean to the east. From the lighthouse it is possible to watch the tidal race, as the two seas clash to create unsettled waters just off the coast. It’s April here and the climate is cool and windy. A beautiful peaceful place to come and visit. Very scenic with sand dunes a bit south and a 90 mile beach which you can drive on.

Kiwi land!

Well I arrived here and its pretty cool, as in the weather. It doesn’t get too cold where I stay around in Auckland but if I go down south it might be snowing in a few weeks. Life is definitely a lot slower here which is awesome. Learning to drive on the left lane and on the right hand drivers seat was pretty confusing at first but I managed to pick it up pretty quick. It was a little harder for me because the car I’m driving is manual so focusing on that and not turning into the opposite lane made it a little harder. What got me a few times was the turning signal being on the right side of the steering wheel instead of the left. New Zealand is truly a beautiful place and everything is so close to the main city from beaches to ranges to volcanoes. One thing is for sure, I have never seen so many sheep in my life.

Vinaka. Moce. Thank you and goodbye Fiji.

Fiji from the airport
What an amazing place. The people, their land, their culture. A humbling experience I must say. From playing volleyball and becoming good friends with the locals to drinking Kava with them after being invited to their homes, it was more than just a vacation. A spiritual experience made it an even better one attending the Fijian Memorial of Jesus Christ. The locals here in general are spiritual with most of them being Christians. As kids, they are taught their families, friends, spirituality, and showing their love to others is most important. It’s a country where you feel it as soon as you step off the plane. I will definitely miss this place but it is time to move on. I definitely want to come back. As the locals say, Moce!(Bye).

Bula! From Fiji!

Cloudbreak
When I first arrived in Nadi, Fiji I had no idea what to expect and to be honest I was a little lost specially since I got here at 5am. I refused to take a taxi only because it was $50 to go where I wanted to go as oppose to a $2.50 bus ride with the locals which made the experience a whole lot richer. So I arrived in this village called Momi about a 1 hour ride from the airport. I booked my stay here only because it was facing a famous surf break CloudBreak by Tavarua, which by the way I surfed! What a heavy wave! Not to mention the razor sharp coral reef only a few feet below. The water is so clear you could see everything 20ft deep clearly. It’s so beautiful. This entire island is beautiful and rich in nature which is something I have always appreciated.

A single step..

Sometimes you think its not safe. Sometimes you think its not smart. Sometimes you have to leap before you know. My first stop California has been amazing. San Diego is like living on the beach in the 90’s Dr.Dre style. Not to mention Dana Point, a beautiful town in Southern California on the Pacific Coast Highway or as they say the PCH or 101. I’ll post pics up soon but I got fly to the airport to catch my flight to Fiji.

My first day in California

Newport Beach Lookout Point - California
Just got here a few hours and we are getting ready to go have some sushi. So far, I’m completely in love with this place. Growing up in Miami, I’m not use to seeing so many cliffs and hills by the ocean and all I can say is WOW!
